The reporter learned from the Hefei Institute of Material Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences that the team of the Extreme Environment Quantum Matter Center of the Institute of Solid State Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences successfully obtained the metal states of hydrogen and deuterium under extreme high temperature and high pressure conditions. Related research results have been published in the internationally important academic journal "Advanced Science". This is another important breakthrough made by the research team of the Quantum Center of the Institute of Solid State Physics after successfully synthesizing fluid metal nitrogen, in the high-pressure research of light elements.
In 2015 and 2018, the two U.S. laboratories observed this fluid metal state of hydrogen and deuterium, which were published in the journal Science, but the temperature and pressure curves reported by the two are very different and cannot be accurately determined. The presence of fluid metal hydrogen.
Based on the preliminary work, researchers at the Quantum Center of the Institute of Solid State Research, Hefei Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, based on the diamond counter-anvil device combined with pulse laser heating technology, have created extreme temperature and pressure conditions in the laboratory that can simulate the core of the gas And deuterium successfully transformed into a fluid metal state; and using ultrafast broadband supercontinuum spectroscopy to detect the optical absorption and reflection characteristics of the sample, revealing the optical, electrical and other physical characteristics of the fluid metal hydrogen and deuterium. The results of the study clarified the existence regions of the fluid metals hydrogen and deuterium, and further explained that this metal state needs to undergo a relatively wide range of high temperature and high pressure semi-metallic regions to be obtained.
