First, Nord-Lock engineers and Ikeda Metal's counterparts explored where they could help Sodick improve the design of bolted joints. They found that the tie rod bolts in the Sodick molding machine were conventionally fastened. The tie rod bolts are very long and it is difficult to guarantee optimum performance if they are subjected to torsional stress and the machine is running for a long time in the end user's factory. From the customer's point of view, it is important to be able to properly control the force on the connector, as this is the key to ensuring safe operation and avoiding costly downtime.
Countermeasures
Superbolt's pure tension makes it the perfect solution. It does not create any friction and therefore can control the force of the connector without releasing the torsional stress. The engineers at Nord-Lock were diligent in tailoring the solution for Sodick to meet their application needs, which impressed Sodick's personnel.result
Superbolt preloaders are expensive, and although there are many cheap alternatives on the market, Sodick believes that Superbolt's price/performance ratio is more attractive. About half of Sodick's products are sold overseas, and some large machines must be disassembled and transported. This requires assembly and part replacement of the molding machine to be carried out simply, quickly and safely at the end user's location. From the feedback of customers, they are generally satisfied with smooth and convenient operation, which is definitely good news for Sodick.
