The rapid development of the furniture industry has become a fully competitive and even fierce traditional manufacturing industry. In the context of rising logistics costs, increased labor costs, and reduced land resources, the industrial transformation and upgrading of the Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River Delta have made the traditional furniture industry present a new development pattern.
"2013-2017 China Furniture Industry Production and Sales Demand and Investment Strategic Planning Analysis Report" shows that the traditional domestic furniture market has always been a three-pointer, and each sphere of influence is distinct: Guangdong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang have always occupied overseas and domestic high-end product markets. The third-ranked Sichuan furniture industry is committed to cultivating domestic second- and third-tier cities, and even the primary market in counties and towns, with a market share of not less than 70%, while its share in the high-end furniture market is only about 10%. Over the years, the direct competition between the two major furniture bases in Sichuan and the coast is not obvious, but the collective "inward turn" of the coastal furniture industry will inevitably lead to confrontation between the two sides. In addition, due to the large market and traffic conditions in Henan Province, the logistics function is relatively strong, which can make product distribution fast, and the production and transportation costs have been greatly reduced. In recent years, major coastal enterprises have scrambled to build factories.
At present, China's furniture manufacturing industry is mainly concentrated in the five regions of the Pearl River Delta, the Yangtze River Delta, the Bohai Rim, the Northeast, and the West. The furniture production capacity of these five regions accounts for about 90% of the total production capacity of the furniture manufacturing industry.
The core production areas of the five largest furniture manufacturing industry clusters in the country are Dongguan and Lecong in the Pearl River Delta, Likou in Jiangsu in the Yangtze River Delta, Hebei Xianghe in the Bohai Rim, Chengdu in the west, and Shenyang and Dalian in the northeast.
According to the data shown in the 2013-2017 China Furniture Industry Production and Sales Demand and Investment Strategic Planning Analysis Report, it can be seen that the region with the largest sales revenue of the Chinese furniture industry in 2012 was Guangdong Province, followed by Shandong Province, Zhejiang Province and Henan Province Ranked third and fourth respectively.
Ranking of China's furniture industry sales revenue in 2012 (Unit: 100 million yuan)
Among the five major furniture manufacturing industry clusters, the Pearl River Delta and the Yangtze River Delta furniture are the two main industrial areas with higher exports, and the Western furniture industrial area is mainly for the domestic market. For example, from January to May 2013, Guangdong furniture exports were 6.38 billion U.S. dollars and Zhejiang exports were 3.95 billion U.S. dollars, and the total exports of the two accounted for 48.3%.
