In the past two years, many investment institutions have adjusted their strategies and set up a new material investment group. Wan Rong said that foreign capital and private capital are paying more and more attention to the new materials industry. The Beijing New Materials Development Center also established a new material investment and financing club last year, and currently has 30 members. With the opening of the GEM, more and more new materials companies also want to obtain development funds through the capital market. According to Wan Rong, they have completed investigations on 10 new materials companies, and the next stage will promote several of them to land on the GEM.

Policy: need targeted support
The industry believes that if the central government wants to support the development of the new materials industry, its policies need to be more targeted.

It is understood that the new materials industry includes electronic information materials, new energy materials, aerospace materials, new building materials and other dozens of categories and many small categories. "The new materials industry is too scattered, and we can't do everything." Wan Rong believes that it can be supported by the two major blocks of new energy materials and environmentally friendly materials, which is also in line with the current mainstream of energy conservation and environmental protection.

At the same time, the industry hopes that the policy will be more inclined to the SMEs in the new materials industry. It is understood that most of the new materials companies are not large, and there are only about 10 listed companies among the 1,300 companies in Beijing. “More than 80% of new materials companies in China are small and medium-sized.” Wan Rong said that new materials companies are also typical high-tech enterprises with small scale and high added value, which is similar to other high-tech companies. Problems such as poor financing channels and unsatisfactory combination of production, study and research. Wan Rong believes that the solution is still to be promoted by the relevant departments to build a sound technology financial service system.

The current situation of the industrial park blossoming must also be taken seriously. Liu Feng said that in some areas, the scientific research strength is insufficient and the industrial chain is incomplete.
