The European HIV OCOMP cooperative research project will focus on the introduction of carbon fiber composite materials technology to accelerate the production of composite materials, which is a key factor for the application of composite materials in the high-volume commercial vehicle market.
The partners of the HIVOCOMP project are: Volkswagen, Daimler, Fiat Research Center, Samsonite, University of Perugia, Huntsman Polyurethanes, ESI Group, Bentler Sigrid and others.
HIVOCOMP will develop two material systems and is expected to mass-produce cost-effective carbon fiber reinforced plastics, namely advanced polyurethane (PU) thermoset matrix materials and thermoplastic polypropylene (PP) based and polyamide 6 (PA 6) based self-reinforced polymers. Composite materials. The performance, production cost, and recyclability of carbon fiber composite material systems will be tested to ensure cost, safety, and environmental goals are met.
