Emuge-Franken is a group company that provides cutting-edge technology in the fields of threading, milling, workpiece fixtures and precision measuring tools. The system, in combination with the customer's practical application, successfully developed a mechanical fixture system based on sawtooth thread technology, referred to as the SG system (see Figures 5 and 6).

In general, the conical expansion system has a good clamping effect and is suitable for some products with high tolerance accuracy. The workpiece has a relatively large diameter and a short length of the workpiece, but due to its tapered surface, there are certain limitations on the clamping of some workpieces. For example, if the long workpiece is clamped, the middle portion of the expansion sleeve is difficult to be in close contact with the workpiece, and the clamping force is not easy to occur during processing, and the cooperation of the two tapered surfaces is difficult to ensure complete matching. If the base cone has a certain degree of wear or machining accuracy error, when the expansion sleeve and the base cone are matched and the expansion sleeve is in the expansion, only one point is in contact, which will produce a yaw of the expansion sleeve, resulting in the workpiece being clamped. Poor force during processing affects accuracy. (See Figure 7)

Compared with the SG system, in any case, it can ensure that the expansion sleeve and the foundation shaft have sufficient contact and stress points.

Compared with the hydraulic system, the hydraulic type has very good clamping precision, but it is limited by the clamping dimensional tolerance. As shown in Fig. 8, in general, the clamping diameter of 100mm is taken as an example, and the SG system can satisfy. The clamping dimensional tolerance is more than 3 times that of the hydraulic system. The SG system can meet more clamping requirements and processes.

In comparison, Emuge's SG system has a good clamping strength, can transfer enough torque for processing, and better wear resistance. And the changeability is also very good, just like screwing the nut, simply screw in, it is not affected by the basic shaft thread, even in the worn state does not affect the expansion of the sleeve. At present, such SG systems have been widely used in various types of fixture products, most of which are used for processing in the automotive industry, such as hobbing, gear grinding and high speed honing of automobile gears.
