Be alert to the crime of fraudulent overdraft for bank cards

According to the Economic Investigation Department of the Public Security Department of Hainan Province, there have been several new credit card crime cases in Hainan recently. The criminal suspects illegally obtained the credit card information of others, impersonated the phone call to the bank and applied for a new card for malicious overdraft. The police reminded the masses to guard against this.

On September 23, 2008, Mr. Yang, a citizen, found a machine notice when withdrawing money from a bank ATM machine in the International Trade Area of ​​Haikou City: "Your card has been lost and cannot be used!" The credit card was then swallowed by the ATM machine. Mr. Yang hurried to the card-issuing bank to understand that the credit card (account number) that had been swallowed had been reported to the phone more than a month ago and a new card had been re-applied. The amount in the card had been overdrawn.

The Economic Investigation Department of the Public Security Department of Hainan Province combined the relevant cases and recommended that cardholders take precautions from the following aspects:

1. Prevent people from prying eyes when handling business or swiping cards at bank counters, automatic teller machines (ATMs), etc.

2. When swiping the card, try to keep the credit card within your line of sight, pay attention to the number of cashier swipes, and be careful not to drop the package or swipe more.

3. Before operating the self-service bank, ATM, etc., pay attention to whether the fuselage is abnormal and there are suspicious attachments around it, such as card slot attachments, posted suspicious notices, miniature cameras, etc.

4. If the ATM machine does not spit money or does not return the card, please do not go away immediately, pay attention to the screen prompts. If it is determined that the card has been confiscated, contact the bank in time to collect the card and change the transaction password. Don't trust the phone number pasted on the machine, especially don't reveal your credit card password on the phone or to anyone.

5. After the transaction is completed, protect the transaction receipts and other transaction vouchers, and do not throw them randomly.

6. Do not use online banking and telephone banking for transactions in public places.

7. Do not enter bank card personal information on the Internet.

8. For suspicious letters, e-mails, mobile phone messages, telephone calls, etc., carefully confirm to avoid the other party cheating on their card number, password, identity information and contact phone.

9. Don't let others use their own credit cards and personal passwords. No one (including bank staff) has the right to ask for their personal passwords.

10. Do not set the same password for inquiry password, consumption password and credit card passwords of different banks.
