The total length of the superconducting cable system prepared for the project by the LS cable is 410 meters. It is the world's longest superconducting cable for distribution. In the past, superconducting cables for power distribution used cases where junction boxes were used in partial phases. However, the junction box of this cable system is a three-phase one and is a unique superconducting circuit in the world.
Since the superconducting cable can be made long, commercialization of the superconducting cable is just around the corner. In addition, the zero-loss characteristics of superconducting distribution cables indicate that they can replace some of the existing power transmission cables and can also be applied to open-transmitting (DC 80 kV/AC 154 kV) superconducting power devices. In addition, the LS cable in this project is also responsible for the development of the connection box between the superconducting cable junction box, the ordinary cable and the superconducting cable.
