[China Aluminum Network] Aluminum ash is an important by-product of the aluminum industry, where the aluminum content accounts for about 1% to 12% of the total loss in the aluminum production process. Recycling aluminum resources in aluminum ash can reduce costs, protect the environment, save energy, and increase resource utilization, with huge economic and social benefits. At the end of the 20th century, in response to the high cost of processing salt cakes produced by the salt bath recycling method, people developed processes that use little or no molten salt for recycling, eliminating the need to deal with recycled salt-containing waste and reducing costs. Energy consumption and reduce environmental pressure.
The ALUREC method was jointly developed by AGA, Hoogonsen Aluminium, and MAN. The melting furnace is of rotary type, using oxygen-enriched natural gas as fuel, which can reach very high temperatures in a short period of time. Aluminum melts and collects on the bottom of the furnace, while non-metal slags float on the melt. This method has high thermal efficiency, low energy consumption and good operating environment. This law is currently a common method for large-scale enterprises to handle aluminum ash. The method also uses pure oxygen as an oxidant to effectively reduce the organic gases (CnHm) generated during the combustion process. The hood can effectively recover other fumes, so it has the advantages of high efficiency, high degree of mechanization, and good operating environment, but the metal The recovery rate is 93% to 94%, and the residual aluminum ash produced needs further processing.
The MRM (Metal Recycling Machine) method and the modified MRM method are widely used by Japanese companies. The process is to send the hot aluminum slag taken from the furnace directly into the equipment with the stirring device so that the aluminum liquid is deposited on the bottom of the equipment. At this time, a flux that can generate an exothermic reaction is added to keep the slag at a desired temperature. The remaining aluminum slag can be further screened, crushed, and melted to recover aluminum for secondary recovery. In the modified MRM process, the entire process of agitation and aluminum recovery is performed under argon protection. The results show that the aluminum burn rate of this method is reduced to 4%, and the recovery rate is 91%.
The "The Press" recycling process was developed by Altek International of Exton, PA. A pressure of 15 MPa is applied to the indenter. The liquid metal in the slag flows under pressure to the lower container. The oxidation process of the pressed slag is rapidly terminated and the oxide is wrapped in the metal shell. At the same time, the metal shell of the slag quickly transfers heat to the pressure head and the slag pan, and the cooling water in the indenter takes most of the heat away. The slag temperature is reduced from the initial 800° C. or more to 450° C. or lower to prevent oxidation of the metal due to high temperatures. The total recovery rate of "The Press" aluminum was 62.5%. The "ThePress" method does not require aluminum ash pre-cooling process, and has a series of advantages such as simple equipment, low investment, low operation and maintenance costs, short working period, good working environment, no dust collection system, complete functions and high automation degree.
China's aluminum ash recycling process is still in its infancy and lacks original technology. This is both a fact and a herald of its enormous potential for development. The research and development of the aluminum ash recycling process with China's national conditions and broad application prospects will promote the sustainable, healthy, and stable development of the aluminum industry in China while achieving leapfrog development in the aluminum ash processing industry.
