On the afternoon of the 18th, Zhuhai Xitong Electronics Co., Ltd. released China's first self-developed point scan 3D printing software operating system, RiverOS 1.0, at the Beijing National Convention Center. This marks that the domestic point scanning 3D printing software operating system successfully broke the monopoly of the US 3D technology and will inject accelerators into the development of high-precision 3D printing in China.
In recent years, in global 3D printing technology, light-curing (SLA) printing technology has been increasingly favored by the market because of high-resolution printing performance and cost reduction. Among them, the dot-light scanning (Dot-Scan) has become a mainstream in photo-curing printing technology because of its low cost, long service life, stable performance, and large-area printing. However, this technology is firmly in the hands of several companies in the United States, and it is not open source, forming a monopoly situation, setting a very high threshold for China's 3D printing technology, resulting in a monopoly of billions of dollars in the market.
Since 2010, Xitong has invested more than 10 million yuan in research on point source scanning technology. In August 2014, it launched the first desktop light curing printer CTC SLA 1.0 based on this technology. In May 2015, it launched Riverside 1.0 again. And Riverside 2.0. On the basis of the success of several products, Xitong officially launched the point scan 3D printing software operating system RiverOS 1.0 yesterday.
According to Yang Yusheng, the chairman of Xitong, the RiverOS solution is an independent software system. The new algorithm of laser spot scanning has greatly improved the scanning precision of the galvanometer. At the same time, the printing power is greatly enhanced and the operation interface is more humanized. The system is compatible with mainstream desktop 3D printer models such as Formlabs, 3D SYSTEM, and RIVERSIDE. It also supports remote control and submitting print jobs via the Internet.
"The development of the new 3D printing software system is a complex system engineering. The core of the development of RiverOS is the development of the PC software and printer firmware." Xitong Development Manager Cheng Jun told reporters that the River OS development process in the software architecture It has been repeatedly designed, and the updated version is up to 7 times. “Our team of 8 software engineers in Bangalore, India, worked 10 months in a row, and experienced 4 versions of the changes before finally making the first one. Testable version."
"The rapid growth of 3D printing is very exciting, but high-precision light curing is difficult to popularize. The price is high, users can't really enjoy and release the full potential of 3D printing." Yang Yusheng said that Xitong's goal is to build A software operating platform compatible with most design tools and 3D printers, the development of API interfaces allows designers and creators to collaborate.
The reporter learned that in 2010, Zhuhai Xitong took the lead in research and development of 3D printers in China. In 2013, it launched the first desktop 3D fusion laminate (FDM) color printer in China. In 2014, it released the world's second desktop light-curing high-precision 3D printer. This year, Zhuhai Xitong 3D printers sold more than 25,000 units, and more than 90% of them sold to Europe and the United States, accounting for nearly one-tenth of the world's share, ranking first in China.
