Autodesk Inventor helps small appliance companies launch a new high quality product every two days

In the 125,000-square-meter factory in Shiyan Town, Baoan District, Shenzhen, Emmett engineers are demonstrating the convenience of three-dimensional digital prototypes for the innovative design and manufacturing of small appliances for customers around the world.

Shenzhen Emmett is a world-renowned small household appliance company with a self-made rate of 95%. There are 15 million electric fans, electric heaters, humidifiers, induction cookers, air cleaners, ventilation fans, exhaust fans, juicers, rice cookers and electric pressure cookers every year. The production line has been manufactured and sold to more than 60 countries and regions around the world. It is one of the world's largest manufacturers of household electric fans. Emmett's products are mainly exported to Europe, the United States, Japan and South Korea. Even in 2008, when the global economic crisis raged, its export sales still accounted for about 60%.

“Under the huge shipping pressure and the demanding quality requirements of overseas customers, using digital technology to simplify processes, improve efficiency and reduce costs has become the key to Shenzhen Aimeite's core competitiveness.” Liao Minghu, R&D Center Manager, Aimeite Electric (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. If so. To this end, Shenzhen Emmett has revolutionized its production processes by introducing Autodesk's leading digital prototyping solutions to increase delivery efficiency and reduce production costs. “Today, we can launch a new product every two days on average,” said Liao Minghu.

It is reported that throughout 2010, Shenzhen Emmett will develop 167 new products. If the design is based on the customer's needs in the past, and then the physical prototype is confirmed to the customer according to the design drawings, not only the project cycle is prolonged, but also the physical prototype is expensive, and the modification is also very inconvenient. With the digital prototype, Emmett engineers can skip the process of making a physical prototype and directly demonstrate to the customer through Inventor 3D simulation and rendering, making the process simpler. At the same time, engineers can also use the Inventor software to perform finite element analysis of structural stress, component interference check, motion simulation analysis, etc., based on the 3D model, to verify and modify the design conveniently and efficiently.

“This not only saves the physical sample model that has been built many times before, reduces production costs, shortens the delivery cycle, and provides intuitive and accurate simulation results and rapid design improvements, which greatly enhances the cooperation efficiency between Emmett and overseas customers. Customer satisfaction is naturally rising," said Liao Minghu.
