China's largest permanent magnet synchronous traction motor has been successfully developed in Zhuzhou, Hunan.

The third generation of "high-speed rail power" developed by China South Locomotive Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute Co., Ltd. - high-speed train permanent magnet synchronous traction system has successfully passed the ground test assessment of the National Railway Testing and Testing Center, and will soon be loaded and tested. The traction system is the "heart" of rail transit vehicles such as high-speed EMUs and is a key source of high-speed train power. The world's rail vehicle traction system technology has undergone three generations of changes from "DC" to "Communication" to today's "Permanent Magnet" drive. Every technical upgrade of the traction system has led to advances in the entire locomotive technology and railway transportation equipment. Due to its high efficiency and high power density, permanent magnet synchronous traction system is gradually replacing the traditional asynchronous traction system and becoming the mainstream development direction of the next generation train traction system.

CSR Zhuzhou has undertaken the research of the national "863" project - the permanent magnet synchronous traction system of high-speed trains. After more than two years of technical research, it has overcome the three majors: permanent magnet synchronous traction system, permanent magnet synchronous traction motor and network control system. Technology has made China one of the few countries in the world to master this technology.

The JD188 high-power permanent magnet synchronous traction motor independently developed by the company has a rated power of 690 kW. It is the largest permanent magnet synchronous traction motor in the domestic rail transit field. Compared with the traditional asynchronous motor, the motor has the characteristics of stable speed, high efficiency, small size, light weight, low noise and high reliability, and the energy saving is more than 10%.
