Important scientific research results. On March 4th, an in vitro fertilized calf was successfully produced at the Experimental Animal Farm of the Provincial Institute of Animal Husbandry. This is the first case of a “calf in vitro†born at home and abroad. At present, yak and surrogate cows are in good health.
This achievement marks a major breakthrough made by our province in the field of yak breeding at home and abroad. The research of this technology provides strong technical support for in vitro factory production and promotion of excellent yak embryos, and lays a good foundation for the further development of yak molecular embryo engineering research and applications such as nuclear transplantation and genetic transformation. It is of great significance to promote the economic development in the pastoral areas of our province, the protection and construction of the ecological environment in the Sanjiangyuan region, and the upgrading of the yak industry.
